Fishing the Mosquito Lagoon with Captain Frank Catino

From the north, starting at the Ponce De Leon Inlet to the southern segment of Indian River Lagoon at Port St. Lucie Inlet, you can find some of the finest nearshore and flats fishing. The IRL is composed of lagoons, river mouths, canals, inlets and ocean influence, typically broken down into three segments, Mosquito Lagoon, Banana River and Indian River Lagoon.

The Mosquito Lagoon
Over 20 thousand acres of grass covered flats make the Mosquito Lagoon a fishermen's dream. Fly fishing, sight fishing and light tackle fishing are excellent, its said that Mosquito Lagoon has the best redfish and spotted trout fishing in the world! This shallow water salty lagoon, lies within the Meritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, as such it gives the sight fishermen some of the best conditions.
